Madalena has throughout her life developed a deep sensitivity to people and the quiet moments that connect them; a calm, observant presence that shapes every part of her work. With a sensibility for storytelling and a love for cinema, she sees stories in subtle gestures and fleeting glances, capturing them with honesty and care. She moves gently through each celebration, knowing when to step in and when to let the moment breathe.
With a quiet curiosity and an intuitive eye, Madalena approaches photography as a way of honouring real, unscripted moments. Her deep love for visual storytelling give her a unique sensitivity to the emotions unfolding around her. Calm and observant, she knows when to gently guide and when to simply witness, capturing the essence of your day with grace, depth, and a deep respect for your story.
By 2016, Madalena’s work was already being showcased in prestigious international publications such as Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, a gracious achievement considering she only begun shooting weddings in 2014.
MANIFESTO
Photographs proclaim the humanity in us.
I've been shooting weddings for over a decade and this deliverance unto my work has shaped me immensely and profoundly in everything I am. From the moment I picked a camera I knew I wanted to live a life of service for others in this way; I feel photographs portray what we are and love and do and feel in the most raw and honest way and that is what moves me the most. Photographing humans in love just completes the circle and is in doing this that I find my purpose.
Doing this as a profession is an incredible honor. And to honor your story is what moves me. I long not to mold who you are, nor your story and emotions into a fabricated cast that speaks nothing of you, or to make it all fit a standard template that showcases nothing more than pretty pinterest-worthy images, but instead long to outpour into creation your uniqueness, and a legacy you will want to return to over and over again. Those images will be the ones to stand the test of time and the ones that will pull at your heartstrings.
My approach centers on creating visual narratives that are honest, personal, and effortlessly refined; telling your story in a way that feels uniquely yours, no matter what your love looks like. What I hope to create is a doorway back: to the rush of joy, the quiet in-between, the unfiltered emotion woven through it all. A return to the fullness of your day, just as it was; vivid, tender, alive.
MY REASON WHY
To hold moments, etched in time and stamped with our legacies, ready to be revisited throughout the years, is one of the greatest treasures I’ve come to cherish. My parents documented my childhood with such care and detail that, when I browse through those photographs, it feels as though I’m stepping back into those very moments.
Leafing through those lovingly curated albums, woven with memories of my family and early years, awakened my passion for the truest form of documentary photography. It was there and there that I first truly felt the power of a photograph: to tell rich, layered stories of love and loss, of quiet seasons and ones marked by upheaval, of every life a lens has touched, and every story preserved in beautiful, raw stillness.
So it is my deepest honor to do the same for you, to help craft your legacy through imagery.
Because, in the end, I believe we all carry this quiet, heartfelt and immense longing: wanting to remember, and to be remembered.
MY STORY
I’m the youngest of three sisters, and our bond taught me patience, attentiveness, and the beauty of everyday rituals, lessons I’ve carried with me since childhood. I’ve always felt destined for adventure, and life has graciously given me many homes across the world.
From Ericeira, a coastal village in western Portugal where every door was left open and children played in the streets until nightfall, to Kansas in the United States, where I was immersed in a culture far from mine and learned what it meant to grow on my own beyond the safety net of my family's embrace, to Libya’s desert landscapes in North Africa, where I discovered how deeply connected we all are, regardless of our upbringings.
I was once meant to become a writer, but cinema stole my heart, and with it, a lifelong love for the visual. Yet, storytelling never truly left me. Becoming a wedding photographer became the most natural, fulfilling path, a way to weave together story and beauty, memory and emotion.
To tell your story through photographs moves me in ways words never could. And there is nothing that brings me greater joy.

"It's really your sensitivity in finding the moment, the look, the touch, that makes all the difference"
Considering this ephemeral side of a day that wants to be eternal, we could assume that the memories are there, that over the years we will be able to close our eyes and transport ourselves to that August 26, but it's difficult... and it is in having someone who just isn't a brilliant photographer but also someone who likes who we are there with us that is so important. I could comment on the photographic reportage and colours and how I love our photos more than any others I've ever seen, but it's really your sensitivity in finding the moment, the look, the touch, that makes all the difference.
You have to be good, dedicated, truly artistic to be able to see beyond the obvious, to be able to capture what we don't even know exists, and that's exactly what you did. It's perhaps difficult to explain much better than this, but I see it and I see it as deeply special. You were really good, and much better than we could have ever imagined and as such asked for. The registry of the feeling, the smile, the committed touch, the fleeting gaze is all there... the photos are a representation of who we are as one and as a couple and it's truly extraordinary that you were able to do all this.
Thank you. We are eternally grateful for what you were able to do. We will forever be fans of what you did and will do. And here's the promise that as life brings us good surprises and there are moments of special photographic recording, our wish is for you to be there with us, through photography and through friendship.
